Theme: Teaching in English: the only pathway to internationalisation of Italian Higher Education?

The second CHEI seminar will be held on Thursday September 6, 2012 in Milano. Is teaching in English the only pathway to the internationalization of Italian higher education? What are the implications of teaching in a language other than one's own, with regard to the quality of teaching by the teaching staff, the local students and the international students? What are the challenges and opportunities to develop an international classroom and the use of another language of instruction? What lessons can the University and its faculties draw from the debate about English as a language of instruction? The seminar will address all these issues so as to provide input for a policy in the university with respect to the offer of programmes and courses in English.
