Cattolica has introduced UCSC MILAN DIRECT, an international student visiting program that allows students to enroll directly at Cattolica or through a representative for a semester or a year. The program provides access to undergraduate courses taught in English (see program curriculum) as well as the entire undergraduate academic offerings taught in Italian. For the first time in Italy, international study abroad students may enroll directly in an Italian university and receive their education in English directly from Cattolica. Support services in English will also be available to all enrolled international students.

 The UCSC MILAN DIRECT semester courses are designed for students who want to increase their understanding of the political, business, cultural and artistic environment and heritage of Italy. The program comprises of courses that define Italy's role within the European Union as well as her relationship with non European countries.

All UCSC MILAN DIRECT courses in English are 44 contact hours per semester and are worth 3 US credits. A student may enroll in a minimum of four courses per semester. Each UCSC MILAN DIRECT course has a limit of 40 enrolled students. Students with appropriate Italian language proficiency may register for UCSC courses taught in Italian, which are an average of 30 contact hours per semester.

A feature of UCSC MILAN DIRECT is that students are required to take a minimum of 3 US credits of Italian language at any level from beginner to advanced without additional cost. This comprises 50 hours of intensive study pre-semester and/or 40 hours during the semester.
